lost valley universe: our stories

  • Wathom Reserves Scandal (1958)

In 1958, the exposed forged land deeds and backroom deals known as the Wathom Reserves Scandal. What began as whispers in a crumbling manor would unravel into decades of corruption that haunted Lost Valley. The year is 1958, and the Wathom family has thrown open the doors of their sprawling estate for a glittering gala. On the surface, it’s an evening of champagne, jazz, and high society glamour. But beneath the chandeliers, whispers of corruption hang heavy. Edwin Wathom is desperate to preserve his family’s legacy, while industrialist Charles Sterling circles like a shark, eager to claim power for himself.

When a guest is found dead, the night of celebration erupts into chaos. Was it revenge, ambition, or an attempt to silence the truth about the government contracts that nearly ruined them all? Every guest has a secret to protect, and in the Wathom Reserve, loyalty comes at a deadly price.

  • Suburban Space Adventure (1976)

It’s the summer of 1976 — the year of the Bicentennial, disco fever, and NASA’s Viking 1 lander on Mars. In Lost Valley, newcomers James and Claudia White invite their neighbors over for the latest craze: a murder mystery dinner party. The theme is Space Adventure, complete with astronauts, aliens, and sci-fi costumes pulled straight from late-night TV.

As fireworks light up the night sky, laughter turns to shock when a scream rings out — and one guest is found dead. Was it part of the game, or something far darker?

Every neighbor has a secret, and every secret is a motive. In this suburban celebration of the stars, trust no one… because someone will kill to keep their story hidden.

  • Casino Noire: High Stakes, Deadly Odds (1988)

At Lost Valley’s glitziest casino, five star dealers face off for the coveted Best Dealer title and a $10,000 prize. The champagne sparkles, the chips fly—and every smile hides a secret.

As rivalries deepen and egos collide, one competitor doesn’t make it to the final round. Was it jealousy? Revenge? Or something darker behind the glittering lights?

High stakes. Cold hearts. One night where luck runs out.

  • Mall Madness (1998)

Two years ago, a mysterious fire nearly destroyed the Valley Galleria Mall. No one was ever charged, but everyone remembers the smoke, the chaos—and the secrets that burned with it.

Now, the newly renovated mall is back, brighter than ever, hosting a glittering TRL-style concert by a hometown pop star. The cameras are rolling, the crowd is buzzing, and the past is finally catching up.

When Cassidy Blaze is found dead before taking the stage, old rumors ignite. Was it revenge for the fire? Jealousy from the spotlight? Or a secret she planned to expose in her tell-all documentary?

As shoppers and staff become suspects, the truth will come to light under the mall’s flickering fluorescents.

Neon lights. Shattered dreams. One final act.

  • Live Stream, Dead Stream (2015)

In 2015, influencer Chloe Vega launched her lipstick line Kiss of Death before a live audience of millions. Moments later she collapsed on camera, leaving a scheduled video post and a million suspects in her comments section.

Casefiles

  • Power and scandal run in their blood.

The Wathoms built their empire on deals that were as shady as they were profitable.

From the infamous oil reserves scandal that put their name in headlines to whispered backroom arrangements, the family has always found ways to turn power into profit. Edmund Wathom became the face of prosperity—but also the scapegoat when the truth came out.

Even now, the Wathoms carry the weight of that scandal. Their money still buys influence, but every handshake comes with suspicion.

In Lost Valley, “Wathom” is as likely to mean corruption as it is success, and few trust them completely.

  • The respectable face of corruption.

If the Wathoms represent scandal, the Sterlings represent polish. Rising alongside their partners-turned-rivals, the Sterlings managed to keep their hands looking clean while others took the fall. They styled themselves as civic leaders, hosting galas, funding schools, and presenting a face of respectability that the town was eager to believe.

Beneath that façade, though, the Sterlings are tied to the same shadows. Debts, bribes, and betrayals thread through their history, even if carefully hidden.

Today, they stand as “pillars of the community”—but their foundation may not be as steady as it looks.

  • Prestige, pride, and the burden of legacy

The Blazes were once Lost Valley’s cultural icons. Silas and Evelyn Blaze, both jazz performers, lit up stages in the 1920s before scandal and family obligations dimmed their shine. Silas’s gambling debts and shady deals with Sterling allies left scars, while Evelyn carried quiet resentment over a career sacrificed to raise their daughter.

The family name became tied as much to backroom compromises as to music and glamour.

Generations later, the Blazes still carry that complicated legacy. Cassidy Blaze’s rise to fame in the 1990s brought their name back into the spotlight, but her tragic death reminded the valley that glory and grief often walk hand in hand.

Prestige, pride, and family fractures keep the Blazes as captivating—and dangerous—as ever

  • Glamour, tragedy, and reinvention

The Vegas family chased fame with the same hunger as the Blazes, but their light burned differently. They peaked as entertainers in the mid-century, dazzling audiences even as debts piled up and rivalries simmered.

The oil scandal years tied them uncomfortably close to the Sterlings, and when fortunes shifted, the Vegas never fully regained their former glory.

Reinvention became their survival strategy. Over the years, they turned from the stage toward political causes, protest movements, and talent scouting.

By 2015, Charlotte Vega carried the name into the digital age as a wildly popular influencer.

For the Vegas, the spotlight never disappears—it just changes form.

  • Working-class roots, dark turns.

The Dunns have always been the valley’s working backbone. They ran repair shops, seasonal jobs, and local businesses that kept the town running in ways the wealthy families never noticed. They weren’t powerful, but they were present—woven into daily life in a way that made them impossible to ignore.

Yet the Dunns’ closeness to the community meant they were never far from its darkest stories. When Gerald Dunn, the family's beloved patriarch, was murdered, the family’s ordinary reputation was forever shadowed. The Dunns remain proof that in Lost Valley, no one—not even the most unassuming family—is safe from scandal.

The Five Prominent Families

who we are

Hello, I’m Rachel Holmes, the founder of Lost Valley Mysteries.

My love for mysteries started early — I grew up watching *Unsolved Mysteries* and was captivated by those “special episodes” of 90s television where the characters attend a murder mystery weekend and are tricked into thinking it’s real. Years later, I attended an immersive mystery weekend myself, where I met lifelong friends and had some of the most fun I’ve ever experienced. Just like the stories from Lost Valley, it goes to show that one moment can truly change your life. It’s that blend of storytelling, play, and connection has stayed with me ever since.

With a professional background in program management, community engagement, and event design, I’ve spent over a decade bringing people together through experiences that matter. Lost Valley Mysteries combines those skills with my love of storytelling — creating a shared-universe where every event is part of an ongoing saga filled with secrets, scandals, and unforgettable characters.

Building this world has been both a challenge and a joy, and now I’m inviting you to step into it. I hope you have just as much fun playing these characters as I had creating them, and that your group leaves with an experience that’s as unique as it is unforgettable.
