the haunting of the creek:
a lost valley murder mystery weekend at little sugar farm
THE EXPERIENCE
This isn't a party. It's a production — and you're in it.
The Haunting of Little Sugar Creek is a premium, fully immersive murder mystery experience designed for guests who want more than a night out. This is a weekend away — carefully crafted, intentionally intimate, and unlike anything else in the region.
You can expect:
Original storytelling — This mystery was written specifically for this property, this setting, and this weekend. You won't find it anywhere else.
Full immersion — From arrival to reveal, you're living inside the story. No breaks. No audience. Just you, your character, and 34 other suspects.
Intimate scale — Only 35 guests. Small enough to know everyone's name. Small enough for secrets to matter.
Curated details — We handle everything: your character, your backstory, your clues, your meals, your accommodations. All you do is show up and disappear into the weekend.
A stunning private property — 17 acres of Ozark hills, a century-old farmhouse, glamping tents in the woods, and a creek that runs through it all. No neighbors. No distractions. No interruptions.
This is the kind of weekend people talk about for years.
The Story
They said it would be just like old times.
Twenty years ago, a group of friends spent a summer at Little Sugar Creek — the kind of summer you never forget. Bonfires. Secrets. Friendship bracelets made with promises to stay close forever. A last dance under string lights before everyone went home.
Now they're back. Older. Successful. Ready to relive the best summer of their lives.
But the woods remember what happened that summer. The creek kept the secrets you buried. And by the time the final dance ends, the past will catch up with all of you.
This October, you won't just attend a murder mystery — you'll live inside one. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, you are your character. The property is the set. Your fellow guests are suspects. And somewhere in the trees, something is waiting.
THE PROPERTY
Little Sugar Farm sits on 17 acres in the Ozark hills of McDonald County, Missouri — down a gravel road, past the last cell tower, in the kind of quiet that makes you pay attention.
This is the world you're stepping into:
The Glampground — Canvas tents tucked into the woods, each with real beds and warm lighting. Close enough to hear each other. Far enough to wonder what's out there.
The Farmhouse — A restored 1900s home with creaking floors, a wraparound porch, and the feeling that someone's always listening.
The Deckhouse — Full bathrooms, outdoor showers, and a community kitchen. The only place with reliable electricity.
The Barns — Two event spaces with string lights, long tables, and shadows in the corners.
The Creek — Swimming holes, trails, and the kind of water that keeps secrets.
The Fire Pit — The heart of everything. Where stories are told. Where the truth slips out.
We selected this property for a reason. It's private. It's remote. It's exactly where this story needs to be told.

FAQs
-
Yes! Solo travelers are welcome. You'll be placed in shared bunk-style accommodations with other solo guests, and your character will have built-in connections to others in the story. People often arrive as strangers and leave as friends — or at least as co-conspirators.
-
Absolutely. Many guests come with friends, partners, or a whole crew. You can request to be placed in the same accommodations (space permitting) and we'll make sure your characters have intertwined histories — for better or worse.
-
Costumes are encouraged but not required. We'll send character details and costume inspiration ahead of time. Some people go all out; some keep it simple. Both are welcome.
-
Perfect. You don't need acting experience — just a willingness to play along. We'll give you everything you need: character info, costume suggestions, and guidance on how to engage. Some people go full method. Some just enjoy the ride. Both work.
-
Very. From Friday evening to Sunday morning, you're encouraged to stay in character. You'll receive your backstory, secrets, and objectives before arrival. The mystery isn't performed at you — it unfolds around you and through you. That said, you can step out of character whenever you need to. We want you immersed, not uncomfortable.
-
No problem. While we encourage staying in character as much as possible, this is meant to be fun — not stressful. If you need a break, take one. The farmhouse porch and quieter corners of the property are great for resetting.
-
Not particularly, but you'll be on your feet and moving around the property throughout the weekend. There's optional hiking and creek activities, but nothing is mandatory. The terrain is natural and uneven in places — comfortable shoes are a must.
-
The deckhouse has four full bathrooms with hot showers, plus outdoor showers if you're feeling adventurous. Glamping guests and campers share these facilities. Farmhouse guests have private bathrooms inside the house.
-
The glamping tents have battery-powered lighting but no outlets. The deckhouse and farmhouse have full electricity for charging devices. We recommend bringing a portable charger if you need to stay powered up.
-
Yes — there is cell service on the property. That said, we encourage you to treat this as a weekend to unplug. The more present you are, the more immersive the experience becomes. You won't want to be checking emails while someone's confessing their darkest secret by the fire pit.
-
The mystery will go on — rain or shine. The barns are covered, and much of the experience can happen indoors if needed. October in the Ozarks can be unpredictable, so bring layers and be prepared for anything. In the case of severe weather, Little Sugar Farm has safety protocols and we'll communicate any changes.
-
Let us know when you book. We work with our caterer to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs. The more notice you give us, the better we can prepare.
